Event 12: Car Pool Lane

$400 + $50 Six-Max NLH

Looking Sharp

Larry Sharp (King of Prussia, PA) and Chalie Hook (Philadelphia,PA) grew up relatively close to each other in the Philly area (25 miles apart), but it took traveling the world wide web for them to meet while playing on-line poker.

Even before the demise of US internet poker, the two became friends and this Summer are bouncing between their places in Sea Isle City and Wildwood Crest, both a stone's throw from Atlantic City.  With no on-line poker, the two have been car pooling to Borgata and both are in the 6-max field.

More accurately Hook was in the field, but busted hours ago and is now railing Sharp who's closing in on the final two tables. "I'm definitely the better tournament player," says Sharp, who has 75k despite losing a 130k pot with A8 against pocket kings.

"I'm definitely the better cash player," says Hook, who's grinding an unscheduled cash session. But he's not too shabby a tournament player either with more than $100,000 in career earnings in Borgata Open events, including a stellar 2009 with 1st ($31,000) and 3rd ($58,000) place finishes.

Hook and Sharp are scheduled to play the Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship Event before figuring out their futures, which for Hook may include moving overseas to continue his on-line career.
