Event 15: Alex Berenson - 1st Place

$1000 + $90 Six-Max NLH

Alex Berenson - 1st Place - $31,913

Congratulations to Alex Berenson who in dominating fashion knocked out every player at the final table like an assassin, except for one.

Everything seemed to go Alex's way today and tonight.

First he hit a five on the river to felt Adam Levitan's A-K and become the final table chip leader with 600,000, then he flopped a set of fives to knock out John DiBella and Max Digilov, both holding K-Q.

In the end Alex is holding all of the chips along with the 2011 Borgata Summer Poker Open trophy, title, and $31,913 in cold hard cash.

Spy Novelist - Alex Berenson

Alex has written 5 spy novels. We have to assume his poker escapades will creep into his future projects at some point.

Alex crushes his home game but this was his first ever live tournament at Borgata or anywhere.

Not bad Alex - can't wait to see what you do for an encore.

Alex says that playing poker has been a good social outlet. I imagine the interaction is healthy for a writer isolated alone at a computer for countless hours lost in worlds of fiction.

Berenson made a deal with himself if he won Event 15 he would enter the Championship Event.

He'll have to run it by wife Jackie who was rooting for him via our blog at home in New York City.

Alex couldn't have written a better script for how he took down what some call the toughest poker tournament around - the 6-max.

Congratulations again!
