Event 19: 7th Place - Santora

$400 + $50 Six-Max NLH

Michael Santora (Staten Island, NY)

Santora has pocket aces cracked when chip leader Jim Burnett calls with A♣ 7♣ and flops two clubs before hitting the flush on the turn. Burnett adds 74k to his stack and is the first player to crack the 400k mark and now has nearly 450k.

While Santora was one of the short stacks, he would've had even more if not for a blunder on the last hand before the final table.

Jose Montes raises 22k from the button and Santora goes in the tank.  The bet is nearly half of Santora's stack and while the other five players are on break, Santora says, "call," and turns over his hand A 10.

Montes asks for a ruling because Santora still has 34k. "G", the floor man, says to Santora, "hand is still live, but you're at a disadvantage."

Santora checks dark and Montes is waiting for the cards before making his move and the flop sends everyone in an uproar.  Q 3 J, the nut flush, with the royal flush redraw.

Montes can only laugh and turn over pocket 9s and folds knowing he saved a few chips, while Santora laments that he missed a true double-up.

Live by the flush on a freaky hand, die by the flush on Santora's elimination.
